January's spotlight is on Bonnie Brown and Hal Northern Mist+, fondly known as "Anja."
Here is a letter from Bonnie sharing her accomplishments and a descriptian of her Champion. WOW!
Hi,
I am so glad to see that the club is getting active again. I was among the
original founders.....when we had so many Arab people around the area and
the club held the class A show and did trail rides at the Bird Santuary. I
was interested in the suggested activities and I hope that you will consider
Dressage as one of the areas the club can clinic. I have been involved in
Dressage about six years now with my Arab mare, Hal Northern Mist+, or as
she is known in the USDF, USEF, as Anja. Anja is presently working 2nd and
3rd level. This year she won the Dover medal by winning the 2nd level test
3 with a score of 60+. We also earned our two second level scores toward
our USDF Bronze Medal and just need our third level scores. She is National
Reserve Champion in our First Level Musical Freestyle for the USEF
Performance Horse Registry Silver Stiruup Awards, and placed 5th at second
level for zone 4. The past years, she earned her Legion of Honor from the
AHA and is close to her Legion of Supreme Honor. She has also earned her
Performance Horse Certificates from USDF in both Training and First Level,
and I have earned my Qualified rider patch for both Training and First
level. She has also been reserve champion for the PHR in First Level. I show her in Open Dressage shows against all breeds. We haven't really done any Arab shows. The horse and rider on the left are Laura Gloor and her 1/2 Arab
Sweet William who also earned his Legion of Honor, middle is Kellie Nelson
our Trainer, and then Hal Norther Mist+ (Anja) and me, Bonnie Browne. I think it is important to know that Arabians can do this sport very successfully.... and I am proud of my mare and our accomplishments. Her sire
is Hal Majestic ( Hal That's Amore X Hal Genie) and her dam is Hal Mistical
(*Hal Gazal X Hal Genie). Hal Majestic is now 22 and lives at my farm with
my other six mares. Again, I am so glad to see the club
revived.....Thanks.
Bonnie Browne
Bonnie is all the way to the right next to "Anja" receiving their Legion of Honor.
