These changes have been proposed by committee and will take affect upon ratification by the general membership. They are necessary in order to correct content, correct typographical errors, and make consistent our by-laws with the current AHA system for collecting membership dues. A copy of the current by-laws will be provided for comparison.
These are the proposed changes and the completely re-written version of Article 2.
Article 2. Membership and Dues
2.1. The number of members shall be unlimited. Memberships will fall into one of the following categories:
2.1.A. Family Membership: This AHAGN membership allows for one or two adult AHA memberships with full privileges and the inclusion of all their children under the age of 18. Children do not have voting rights and can not hold youth offices unless they are full members of the AHA.
2.1.B. Individual Adult Membership: This AHAGN membership allows one AHA member full privileges.
2.1.C. Youth Membership: This AHAGN membership allows one AHA member under the age of 18 full privileges.
2.1.D. Lifetime Members of AHA: Lifetime members of the AHA will be assessed yearly dues for the AHAGN to maintain full privileges.
2.1.E. Associate Memberships: Associate memberships are available for both youth and adults that are not members of the AHA. However, they do not hold full privileges. They can not hold office and have no voting rights.
2.2. The amount of local AHAGN dues will be set by the AHAGN board of directors and the membership will be notified of any changes.
2.2.A. Renewal: Yearly dues will be collected by the AHA concurrently with AHA dues for all full AHA/AHAGN members.
2.2.B. Renewal for Associate Members: Associate memberships are good for one year from the date of entry. The membership chair/treasurer will notify associate members when their renewal is due and will do so in a timely basis allowing associates ample notice of their status.
2.2.C. Renewal for Officers and Nominees: To be eligible to hold or run for office, membership dues for the local AHAGN must be paid in advance through the term of the office.
